If anyone ever minds anything I say, MIND THIS. [Jun. 26th, 2005|08:25 pm]
Hufflepuffs, come directly- and I mean RIGHT NOW- to the Great Hall if you're not there already. I shall be along directly.
Children, I know I've not been here for you as I should. I've failed too many of you, and left the rest to gather dust. Someday I may have the temerity to ask you to forgive me.

For once, I am going to DO SOMETHING ABOUT THESE OUTRAGES. When I arrive, you all will get behind me and STAY THERE. We are forting up, my children. I'm bringing certain little projects in.

Also, Headmaster- Keep in mind that my various other projects and particular workspace will be at your disposal if things go as they oughtn't.

Michael, Michael- Oculi mei semper ad Dominum quoniam ipse evellet de laqueo pedes meos/ Respice in me et miserere mei quia unicus et pauper sum ego/ Tribulationes cordis mei multiplicatae sunt de necessitatibus meis erue me/ Vide humilitatem meam et laborem meum et dimitte universa delicta mea/ Respice inimicos meos quoniam multiplicati sunt et odio iniquo oderunt me/ Custodi animam meam et erue me non erubescam quoniam speravi in te/ Innocentes et recti adheserunt mihi quia sustinui te/ Libera Deus Israhel ex omnibus tribulationibus suis.
Will you intercede for us?
I- Dear God- I could not protect you from your friend. Where was I?

I will miss you, mad little boy.

And the dust begins to settle. [Feb. 16th, 2005|07:31 pm]
[mood |tiredtired]

I've reacquainted myself with these words in the last day or two.

Exaudiat te Dominus in die tribulationis protegat te nomen Dei Iacob-
Mittat tibi auxilium de sancto et de Sion tueatur te.

Mr Corner, I was most concerned for you.

Our world, our times, have been strange right along. They're certainly not getting any less so, and that's all I'll say on the subject.

Students who have fallen behind in their studies with me may, of course, arrange a catch-up study session- I am willing to make some exceptions in light of the recent oddities.

That is all.

Justin Finch-Fletchley... [Jan. 18th, 2005|11:01 am]
[mood |worriedworried]

Your absence has not escaped my attention.

I just want to know what's going on. I want to know that you're safe, that you've not fallen in with unsavoury company... More unsavoury company, that is.

I'm not here to proselytise at you, young man. However I may disapprove of choices you make, they are yours. It's just such a wide world out there, and so terribly dangerous.

Can I not persuade you to return to school?

Slightly belated: [Dec. 26th, 2004|05:57 pm]
Congratulations, Tonkses and Weasleys, and welcome to little James.

On an unrelated note, Mr Smith, you shall certainly be needing those sensible boots in the coming term. We have mucky work ahead of us, I am afraid.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday, students. That is all.

In the last few days... [Dec. 17th, 2004|11:49 am]
I've been to church. I lit some candles for all of our losses. It did not help. I prayed for them, for all of us- BEATUS, cui remissa est iniquitas et obtectum est peccatum. Beatus vir, cui non imputavit Dominus delictum, nec est in spiritu eius dolus. But there guile is in all of us, even our children. We saw that some days ago. I overlooked it for months.

Peccatum meum cognitum tibi feci et delictum meum non abscondi. I have handed up my sins to God, and it was a long list.

Multi dolores impii, and those sorrows are doubled when we cannot forgive ourselves.

What has been done cannot now be undone.

What manner of future will our children and theirs create from this wreckage?

STUDENTS! [Dec. 11th, 2004|08:52 pm]
Sixth- and seventh-years who are able to lift heavy things such as people should proceed to Ravenclaw. We need hands shifting the wounded. Every body in that rubble, regardless of condition, must be brought to the Infirmary as soon as possible.

Bring your wands, children. It is a very dark night.

ADDITIONALLY, I will be on my way to the Tower immediately. Any students I've asked to the Infirmary to assist there should remain where they're put.

To My Hufflepuffs [Dec. 11th, 2004|07:38 pm]
I expect to see all of you in the Common Room THIS VERY INSTANT, IF NOT SOONER.

Shift yourselves, children. I'm on my way down from Infirmary.

This Weekend Shall Be Busy [Dec. 10th, 2004|03:33 pm]
[mood |energeticenergetic]

If any students have need of me this weekend, I shall be moving frequently between the Greenhouses and the Infirmary. Anyone who wishes to bring assignments to me for review may find me at one of those two locations.

Mr Smith, I expect you to be at the Greenhouses immediately following breakfast tomorrow morning. You'll be helping me to carry various plants up to the Infirmary for Madame Pomfrey; you'll also get a bit of a Herbology practicum at the same time.

That is all.

Thunderous Happenings! [Dec. 7th, 2004|07:54 pm]
[mood |calmcalm]

Some disturbing things have gone on in the last several days. As we contemplate these disturbing things, I think that we would do well to remember that appearances can be deceiving, and that a story related by a number of people will have a proportionate number of variations.

Zacharias Smith, I have not meddled in your life recently. I intend to rectify this matter immediately. Kindly see me in my office at your earliest convenience.

There will be tea and cookies.

That is all.

Ah, the Ball approaches. [Oct. 26th, 2004|10:54 pm]
I appear to have naught to do with the Ball this year. This represents very little change from the usual; I do not think that I've attended past the first fifteen minutes of any Ball at Hogwarts since my first year as a student.

It has seemed to me, in recent years, that this time is more suited to introspection than to celebration. The days are getting short, green growing things are fading into brown, and the wind is developing its inevitable chill. It is not a time to dance, for me; it is the slow death of a year, and a certain solemnity surrounds it. I take these few days to mark the things I wish I could have done this year, to remember things I must do differently in the future.

So, students, with all of the hubbub surrounding the Ball, have you been keeping up with your reading? Please, do tell me that you have. I should hate to have to assign any further work so close to the big event.

That's all.
